Present Scenario (Depressing)

In today’s fast-moving world - Changing technology for better or worse –Banks closing their branches - High streets becoming Ghost towns - GP Telephone appointment an impossible task - Key workers (Teachers/Bus Drivers/Doctors/Consultants/Train Drivers/Nurses) on strike – Long waiting time at the A&E. Interest rates going up, cost of mortgage repayments going up, rents going up– Reminiscent of the winter of discontent of the seventies or even worse.

GCEHR (Top Priority - Cost of Living Crisis)

GCEHR is a small charity. Many small BAME community/voluntary groups in the Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG) have ceased to operate for lack of funding or support. According to the Greenwich Supports Cost-of-living survey, 77% of those who surveyed struggle with mental health, 31%of people have been skipping meals due to rising costs and 58% are cutting down on grocery spending and 50% are cutting electricity/fuel use to cope with rising energy cost. RBG is a vibrant borough, culturally rich with great thriving diverse communities of remarkable sense of resilience. GCEHR has embarked on a challenging task to create stronger all-inclusive communities targeting hard to reach members in order to alleviate the cost of living crisis with rising prices, high rates and soaring energy bills.

The environment at our centre is warm and welcoming. We listen to our members and try our best to raise their self-esteem in a dignified caring manner. We give paramount importance to all our members and treat each member with the same care and respect. No wonder, our membership is growing.

All our projects start with keep-fit exercise session, followed by lunch and the project activity. Sessions start at 12noon and finish at 4pm.

Please browse through our pages, each page tells you a story of our survival over the years. Following the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words", we have not only included some pictures but also included shades of pictures in the background.

Our website is open to public and in the ever-changing digital landscape we strive hard to include our web in all available search engines. Community groups and organisations are welcome to announce their events, embed website links on a reciprocating basis or advertise their products (subject to approval by the trustees) for which we will create special pages. All suggestions for improving our web are welcome.

Kind regards,
