Manager
Ameen Hussain joined GCEHR in November 2017 as our manager. Prior to joining our charity, Ameen Hussain was a manager at the ARC Training, Education & Community Services (formerly Asian Resource Centre) till July 2015 where he was instrumental in delivering several community projects. He was bestowed with MBE for services to adult education and community in the New Year 2014 honours list.
Mrs Kulvinder Rayat
Coordinator
Kulvinder Rayat joined GCEHR as our coordinator in November 2017. She brings in a wealth of experience to the GCEHR and specialises in running projects for youth and young people plus she is well known in the community with grass root contacts. She worked as Unit Manager with the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Both Ameen & Kulvinder worked as a Manager/Coordinator team at the ARC Training, Education & Community Services (previously Asian Resource Centre) till its closure in 2015. They ran several successful community projects for the residents of the RBG with unblemished and impeccable track record.
A brief description of the projects they ran is given below to show the scope of the work that we will be able to deliver for the GCEHR
ARC Projects for the community in the RBG
Welfare Project - FREE caring & confidential help and advice on Welfare rights, Immigration, Nationality, Pensions & Income Support, Employment, Education, Matrimonial, Domestic Violence and help for the elderly including FREE legal surgery in partnership with a firm of solicitors.
Woolwich Development Agency – ICT project for traders, women and school children leading to CLAIT Stage 1 & 2 exams.
Plumstead Manor School, Old Mill Road, SE18 1QF -ARC Saturday Supplementary School – largest and longest running, teaching eight Heritage languages, four National Curriculum subjects, at its peak there were more than 350 students, young people’s council & parents association, public exam centre, celebrate important events by special assemblies.
Jack Petchy Award: ARC were given the youth achievement service gold award through which young people at our school used the award by nominating activities most suitable to their needs.
Abbey Wood School, Eynsham Drive, London SE2 9AJ(now closed)- ARC worked in partnership with Abbey Wood School under the Neighbourhood Renewal, ran ICT & cooking classes with parents & students, organised Customer Care, Food Safety, First Aid & Health Safety training sessions leading to Industry recognised qualifications, organised projects during focus weeks and ARC/Abbey Wood partnership lasted till Abbey Wood closed down. For this project ARC also supported the over 55s club run by Age Concern at the local C2K community centre.
UKOnline Project – ARC was one of the leading centres delivering the UKOnline (Greenwich Online) project. There were drop in sessions for the use of Internet and structured weekly and termly courses.
Integrated Youth Support Services, Greenwich Council – ran Customer Care and Food Safety etc one day projects contributing directly to the five ‘every child matters’ outcomes, ran computer repair workshops for the 13-19 age group leading to qualifications. ARC manage to successfully Create a virtual network setting environment with eco-friendly computer system.
Greenwich Play Association (GPA)- ran activities for children during school holidays, took young people to Arethusa Adventure centre.
RBG NLDC Project – Foundation/Intermediate/Advanced ICT training, Digital Imaging, Graphics design, Textile Design/Sewing and Knitting/Crotchet projects.
RBG NLDC Adult Learning Week Project – ARC provided full support for the project by helping with publicity, organising sessions and food from different cultures.
RBG Train2Gain Project – ARC worked with RBG to organise a conference with local businesses. ARC offered skills advice and matched business training needs.
Family Literacy, Language & Numeracy (FLLN) dept, Greenwich Council- for a number of years ARC ran ESOL classes for parents with student involvement, ran ICT classes for parents/children together, ran different projects to help develop Literacy & Numeracy skills, ARC conducts exams. Supported FLLN with training facilities for those primary parents who were given free laptops.
Black History Month Project – ARC organised awareness assemblies and plays for the project. ARC also arranged catering on the opening day for several years.
NIACE (The National Institute of Continuing Education) – ARC successfully ran the capacity building project and the eco-friendly ICT project for this National organisation. Also ran ‘Get Online’ project.
Arts Council England – ARC set up their own music & dance group called the ‘New Age Dhollies’, performed at the dome, Greenwich theatre and at various festivals
Wildlife for All – this partnership resulted in ARC students celebrating the Harvest Festival at the Hyde Park, visit to No. 10 Downing Street, care for the environment, line dancing project etc.
Asian Mela Festival – The event popularly known as the festival of harmony attracted well over thirty thousand visitors from all over London and surrounding counties. We ran this festival for twenty years. Our students contributed to the art, dance, music and sporting activities at the largest & the longest running festival showcasing the RBG. Students took many volunteering jobs.
Greenwich University – ARC ran access to teaching course, successful candidates were admitted to B.A (Hons) in Education Studies further leading to PGCE qualification.
National Opportunities Fund (NOF) – successfully ran out of school care projects for two years
Greenwich Community College (GCC) – ran sewing & keep fit projects for parents.
Crown Wood School – ARC ran the languages sessions for the KS4 students as part of the school’s enrichment programme.
Ravensbourne college – ARC ran Film making, production and editing project.
Greenwich Local Labour & Business (GLLaB) – Customer care and hospitality training projects. GLLab also used the Centre for their CV writing project. Local residents used the Centre to register for employment for the 2012 Olympics.
14-19 Pathways to Employment – project provided Food Safety training, ARC organised Job placements with local catering employers for the young people.
Woolwich Reach and Plumstead Pathfinder WRaPP(excellence in cities Action zones)- for this project ARC worked with sixteen schools in the most deprived part of the borough.
L&Q Housing Group – since 2007 the L&Q have supported the ARC run Mela festival. We ran ICT project, Families into training project, Laptop project for the L&Q residents in the three boroughs (RBG, Bexley and Lewisham), Textiles/sewing project, Financial Inclusion project and getting on-line project.
Gallions Housing Association – Use of Internet, managing finances, textile design, Beginners ICT, advanced ICT and Gallions Money Smart Project etc.
Thamesmead Surfers – This over 55s age community group is a regular user of our centre. The average age is 76 years. There are 25 plus members in the group. ARC helped the group with ICT facilities.
London & Quadrant Project Launch Photos
